FREDERICKSBURG – Route 3 travelers can expect brief daytime delays crossing the Robert O. Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River next week.

Starting Tuesday, July 8 through Friday, July 11, Route 3 between Lancaster and Middlesex counties will be reduced to one-way alternating traffic for maintenance work.

Between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., a portion of the bridge will be reduced to a single travel lane. Automated flagging devices will direct traffic through the work zone. Flagging crew members operate the devices, which can be rapidly adjusted to respond to congestion or incidents on the bridge.

Lane closures have been scheduled weather permitting.

Updates on this work zone are available on 511Virginia. Travelers can also download the free mobile 511Virginia app, or call 511 from any phone in Virginia.
