A company that provides operations and maintenance services at Altria’s corporate headquarters in Henrico County will lay off 56 employees.

Amentum Services Inc., which manages and maintains manufacturing plants, data centers and offices, will terminate the employees Aug. 31, according to a notice filed with the state. Employees were notified earlier this month.

Altria has awarded the building services contract to Chicago-based real estate services company Jones Lang LaSalle, a spokesperson for the cigarette maker said.

Amentum, headquartered in Chantilly in Fairfax County, is a publicly traded company with more than 50,000 employees worldwide. Amentum provided mechanical work, heating and air conditioning maintenance, plumbing and other services, Virginia Business reported. Amentum’s staff had worked for Altria under different business names since 2007.
