The Warsaw Town Council and members of staff attended the ribbon cutting for Warsaw’s newest mural, the Osprey of Fones Cliffs. Featuring stunning and vibrant colors that pay homage to the beautiful Fones Cliffs of the Newland community, the mural was meant to be a centerpiece of downtown Warsaw.

Town Manager, Joseph Quesenberry, stated that “The Town Council’s commitment to our “One Mural a Year” pledge has created many beautiful pieces across Town. This mural is the largest in the Northern Neck Region, measuring 25 feet in height and 130 feet in length. Located at the highest traffic count intersection in the Northern Neck, this will provide visitors and residents alike with a beautiful example of public art,” he said.

Warsaw Mayor, Randall Phelps, said “…the stunning mural—featuring the Osprey soaring high above the Rappahannock River, with the majestic Fones Cliffs in the background—is more than just a painting. It’s a reflection of our natural beauty, our heritage, and our spirit. It reminds us to look up, to take pride in the land we call home, and to always keep reaching higher.”

The mural was designed and created by Jonathan Murrill, a Roanoke based artist that is known for his breathtaking works across the Commonwealth. He obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree from Radford University with a concentration in both painting and drawing.  He has exhibited in juried exhibitions, solo exhibits, and group shows across the United States.
