The Buc-ee’s convenience store and gas station planned for New Kent County may not open for several more years, as the company awaits the completion of highway improvements.
On Dec. 15, Rodney Hathaway, the county administrator in New Kent, told the county planning commission that the store might not open until September 2029. However, a spokesperson for Buc-ee’s told WRIC on Tuesday that the store’s “projected grand opening is set for December 2031.”
