Williamsburg, Virginia – QuickStart Children of Virginia (QCV) is pleased to report Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) program for kids is now available in King & Queen County. The program, launched this month with Thrive Virginia as the Local Program Partner, will benefit more than 300 children under age five. Startup funding for the program was generously provided by Homebase Credit Union, Chaney Cares and Republic Services. Ten kids are already enrolled.
Lynda Harrill, QCV Founder, says, “King & Queen County was a bit of a challenge due to its geographic configuration (72 miles long and only about 10 miles wide) and scarcity of potential nonprofit partners. Finding a partner, much less one covering the entire county, took substantial effort. Several personnel changes over a three-year span made me wonder if we were ever going to add King & Queen to the Virginia DPIL list. Our patience paid off, however, when Jessica Banks joined Thrive as Communications Manager. She jumped right in to get things going. And the generous financial support we received made it happen. We are so grateful for both.”
