FREDERICKSBURG – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews worked overnight to treat roads for slick and hazardous conditions and remain mobilized this morning across the Fredericksburg area, Northern Neck, and Middle Peninsula. Crews plowed snow in areas where at least 2 inches of snow accumulated on the road surface.
Road conditions vary around the 14-county Fredericksburg District. Travelers should use caution this morning while driving. Allow extra travel time and reduce speed, especially on secondary roads carrying lighter traffic, while crossing bridges and overpasses, and traveling along ramps.
Road Conditions Monday Morning
Interstate 95 and primary roads are clear in the Fredericksburg area this morning. Secondary roads (routes numbered 600 and above) are in minor condition in the Fredericksburg area. Minor condition means that pavement is visible, but isolated patches of snow and slush are present.
In the Northern Neck, which received heavier snow overnight than other areas of the district, primary roads are in minor condition, with visible pavement but isolated patches of snow. Secondary roads in the Northern Neck are in moderate condition with partial areas of snow coverage. Route 3 in Westmoreland County is closed near Legion Lane in the Montross area for a downed tree entangled with utility lines.
In the Middle Peninsula, primary roads are clear. Secondary roads are in minor condition with visible pavement but isolated snow-covered patches.
