Political debates have a long history in our country. Even before it was a country.
The Northern Neck Heritage Arts Center will host a free public lecture, presented as part of the Northern Neck 250 series on Sunday, April 19, from 2–4 PM. The lecture titled “The Constitution They Argued Over: Power, Democracy, and Compromise in 1787,” is presented by Dr. Michael Ross, a University of Maryland professor of history, who will explore the dramatic debates that shaped the United States Constitution and the future of American democracy. The lecture will take place at historic Rice’s Hotel / Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville.
