Oak Grove, VA, – The Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail recently kicked off “Sip & Stay by the Bay”, a promotional campaign designed to inspire visitors to turn wine tasting outings into weekend escapes along the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. The effort is funded, in part, by a grant from Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (VTC) Marketing Leverage Program.
The goal of the campaign is to feature the Trail as a multi-day getaway that includes, not just wine tasting, but much more. In addition to discovering unique wineries and cideries, travelers are encouraged to explore waterfront towns on the Trail, along the Chesapeake Bay; the Potomac, Rappahannock and Yeocomico Rivers; and other waterways, pairing visits with local inns, boutique hotels, and charming accommodations.
The Sip & Stay landing page on the Trail’s website showcases new creative highlighting the campaign, such as a highlight reel, fresh images from Wine Trail member sites, and a dedicated campaign logo. Visitors can also find links to relevant pages on the Trail’s website, such as Events, Itineraries, and the “Trail Talk” blog.
Select lodging is listed on the site, including on-site at Ditchley Cider Works, The Dog and Oyster, and Monroe Bay Winery, as well as nearby coastal inns and bed and breakfasts. Additional co-marketing and partnership initiatives will be announced throughout the campaign.
VTC grant programs are designed to highlight Virginia’s rich cultural and historical legacy, spur economic activity and overnight travel across the Commonwealth, and promote Virginia as a vibrant destination with robust visitor experiences.
