RICHMOND – AARP Virginia has invited the Republican and Democratic gubernatorial nominees to participate in The People’s Debate on September 16, 2025.

AARP Virginia issued invitations to Republican nominee Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears and Democratic nominee former U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger following their respective nomination victories.

The People’s Debate will be televised and distributed across the Commonwealth. AARP Virginia’s partners for the event are Richmond’s WTVR-CBS 6 and Virginia State University, which will host the debate.

AARP Virginia began sponsoring The People’s Debate in 2006 for all gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races. AARP does not endorse or contribute money to candidates, political parties or campaigns.
