Gasoline prices have soared by 90 cents per gallon in Virginia over the past month, and crude oil prices spiked as high as $118 a barrel in trading on Thursday, as the U.S. war in Iran widened this week to paralyze a critical shipping route, and oil facilities have become retaliatory targets throughout the Persian Gulf region.
The average cost of regular unleaded gasoline in Virginia rose to $3.73 per gallon on Thursday — an increase of 36 cents per gallon in a week and 90 cents per gallon in the past month.
