On Monday, Bay Transit held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Bay Transit Express – Paper Trail microtransit service that replaced the deviated fixed-route service on December 2nd.
Bay Aging/Bay Transit, the Town of West Point, and King & Queen County held the ribbon cutting ceremony at the West Point Town Hall/DMV offices to help raise awareness of the new ride hailing service that operates throughout West Point, portions of King & Queen County and Eltham.
Bay Aging President & CEO Kathy Vesley, Bay Transit Director Ken Pollock, West Point Town Manager John Edwards, King & Queen County Administrator Vivian Seay, Bay Aging Board Director Ben Owen, Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) Transit Programs Manager Aaron Clark, West Point Chamber of Commerce President Sam Drewry, and Chamber Coordinator Jamie Lacy were among the attendees.
“We are thrilled with the publicity and use the new Bay Transit Express – Paper Trail service has already received,” said Bay Transit Director Ken Pollock. “During our first two weeks of operation, we have already eclipsed the typical monthly ridership of the old deviated fixed-route service, and I fully expect we will double the typical number of rides we used to have each month.”
