A bill calling for state guidelines on cellphones in school that emerged as an early priority of state Senate Democrats is now through the Senate and the House of Delegates.
Senate Democrats called for legislation last summer, the day after Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued an executive order telling the Virginia Department of Education to draft guidance for public school divisions so they could set cellphone-free education policies.
