Virginia State Police report that a Colonial Beach man lost his life in a a two-vehicle crash in Westmoreland County around 4:30 Monday afternoon.
According to police, the crash happened at the intersection of Route 628/Stoney Knoll Road and Route 205/James Monroe Highway when a minivan which was stopped at the stop sign on Route 628/Stoney Knoll Road into the path of a 1989 Dodge pick-up traveling west on Route 205/James Monroe Highway. The pick-up was unable to avoid striking the van on the driver’s side door.
Police identify the victim as 67 year old Keith Emerson Payne, Jr., who succumbed to injuries at the scene. Payne was wearing a seatbelt.
This crash remains under investigation.
