Virginia Democrats on Saturday chose Sen. Lamont Bagby, D-Henrico, as the new chairman of the Democratic Party of Virginia ahead of this fall’s elections for governor and control of the House of Delegates.
Bagby, who also heads the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, succeeds Susan Swecker, who stepped down after 10 years in the post.
