On July 6th, Lieutenant Jonathan Sydnor was off duty.  At approximately 6:30am, Lt. Sydnor responded in his volunteer role as Captain 1 for Richmond County Volunteer Fire Department, to a residential structure fire in Richmond County.  He arrived on scene prior to any other Fire or Rescue personnel.  He was met by family members that stated that a woman was still in the residence.  Lt. Sydnor made entry and was able to rescue the woman, who was then transported to VCU Tappahannock Hospital.  Without Lt. Sydnor’s efforts, she would likely not have survived.  Last Thursday Lt. Sydnor was recognized by the Richmond County Board of Supervisors during their regular meeting.  He was presented with a resolution and awards for his outstanding work.
