The Tappahannock – Essex Volunteer Fire Department answered a fire call to the LaGrange Industrial Park on Sunday afternoon shortly after 4pm for about 100 rolls of astroturf on fire.
Mutual Aid was requested from Richmond County, Upper King & Queen, Upper Middlesex, Urbanna and Walkerton Volunteer fire Departments. More than 50 firefighters and 17 pieces of apparatus battled the blaze for over five hours.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries at VCU Tappahannock and released.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The Tappahannock VFD Auxiliary also responded with food and water to first responders.
