Virginia Democrats are out of time to save their new congressional district map, and on top of that, the state’s top Democrat, Gov. Abigail Spanberger, says the old maps will stand, Republican leaders told the U.S. Supreme Court.
Democrats earlier this week asked the U.S. Supreme Court to block a Virginia Supreme Court order saying the congressional redistricting that voters approved in the April 21 referendum was null and void.
The Virginia justices said the process that brought the question before the voters violated the state Constitution.
