Agun went off inside a third grade classroom at Lee Hill Elementary School on Monday while inside the backpack of a student.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office says the handgun discharged just before 11 a.m., and the teacher evacuated all 26 students from the classroom. The teacher then alerted the school resource officer who was on site.
No students or staff were injured during this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
