Henrico Doctors’ Hospital has stopped accepting patients to its neonatal intensive care unit after hospital leaders discovered a string of newborn babies suffered unexplained fractures in 2023 and 2024.
The hospital determined seven infants had suffered broken bones and staff could not determine why, the hospital said in late December. In one case, a hospital employee physically abused a premature infant, WTVR-TV reported. The unit, often referred to as the NICU, cares for babies born prematurely or with complications.
