Independent candidate Cornel West did not qualify for the presidential ballot in Virginia, but Robert F. Kennedy Jr. did, despite suspending his campaign and throwing his support to former President Donald Trump.

The Virginia Department of Elections has not completed its review of required forms and signatures for three other independent candidates — Claudia de la Cruz of the Party for Socialism and Liberalism; anti-abortion activist Randall Terry; and Indian American entrepreneur Shiva Ayyadurai.

But the state confirmed that it had informed West, a progressive academic and philosopher, that he had not qualified to appear on the ballot. The department indicated that West’s campaign had not correctly filed the necessary forms, but did not provide details.
