Virginia legislators have spoken loud and clear that the children of wealthy alumni should not get a leg up in college admissions.
The General Assembly has passed bills to ban legacy admissions at Virginia’s public colleges, which would end a practice in which an applicant gets extra consideration because he or she has a close relationship to a member of the alumni, a professor or donor.
The measure is poised for approval by Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
