Middle Peninsula residents are invited to participate in a brief survey to help enhance regional commuting options through the MidPenRideShare program, the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission (MPPDC) announced this week.
Available now, the 25-question online survey takes just a few minutes to complete and will remain open until March 31, 2025. As an added incentive, participants who complete the survey will have the option to be entered into a drawing for a $250 VISA gift card.
The Middle Peninsula’s out commuter rate remains among the highest in the state, with roughly 77% of its workforce leaving the Middle Peninsula to go to work, explains Lewie Lawrence, Executive Director of the MPPDC.
Survey responses will provide critical insights into commuting habits, helping the MPPDC refine and expand the MidPenRideShare program and other offerings to better serve the community.
“By taking just a few minutes to complete this survey, residents can help shape the future of commuting in the Middle Peninsula,” said Lawrence. “Their input is invaluable in our mission to further improve connectivity, build useful facilities and expand transportation choices throughout the region.”
MidPenRideShare is a free service designed to increase commuting options for residents by promoting carpooling, vanpooling, biking and public transit while also supporting teleworking.
By registering for MidPenRideShare, commuters gain access to a statewide database that helps match them with others who share similar travel routes, making it easier to coordinate shared rides and reduce transportation costs.
MPPDC played a key role in the 2024 opening of Hub 33, a 7,000 square-foot center at 421 Lewis B. Puller Memorial Highway in Shacklefords that house’s MPPDC offices, a medical provider and between 40 and 50 telework cubicles, board rooms and open shared work spaces available to residents. The center also is home to the region’s newest Park and Ride lots available for commuters.
“Hub 33 provides a fully functional office environment for those who jobs require that, and it’s an important milestone in our quest to reduce out commuting,” Lawrence said. “We look forward to hearing from residents as we continue to develop new ways to reduce congestion, increase convenience and save money.”
Residents are encouraged to participate in the MidPenRideShare survey before the March 31, 2025 deadline to have their voices heard and for a chance to win the $250 VISA gift card.
