On Sunday afternoon around 3:30 Virginia Marine Police officers recovered the body of a man who fell overboard and rescued a woman from the boat near Stingray Point in Deltaville.
The woman on the 17-foot boat was identified as Lisa Jane Flowers. She directed the rescue team to a man who was face down in the water and entangled in fishing line and identified as the boat’s owner Steven Drew Higginbotham.
Virginia Marine Police also reported that an approaching storm system with 15 to 20 knot winds complicated the rescue efforts.
Flowers was removed from her boat and suffering from sea sickness and general distress and transported to land and evaluated by Middlesex EMS and released.
