Customers of Northern Neck Electric Cooperative, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, and Dominion Energy were left in the dark Wednesday afternoon.

A combined 25,000 residents lost power due to a construction equipment fire in King George County that toppled a transmission pole. In the process of de-energizing the transmission line, the six substations across the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula area that were supplied power by this line were disrupted.

Power began to be restored to most of the areas by 5pm and full restoration was completed by 8pm.
