Police are investigating after a car was pulled out of the James River on Monday morning in an area between Pony Pasture and the Huguenot Memorial Bridge.

Police said officers and rescue crews responded to the 7900 block of Riverside Drive at around 4:23 a.m. Monday for reports of a vehicle in the James River. At the scene, first responders found a silver sedan underwater.

Police said a water rescue team with the Richmond Fire Department searched the vehicle and the nearby area, but no person was found.

Crews then removed the vehicle from the river, police said.
