FREDERICKSBURG – Construction was completed this week on a culvert installation project on Route 354 (River Road) in Lancaster County at Deep Creek, and the road has reopened to through traffic.
Crews removed three deteriorated drainage pipes and replaced them with a 76-foot-long concrete box culvert, which is approximately as long as two school buses.
The road was rebuilt over the new culvert, with new asphalt, guardrail and pavement markings.
River Road had been closed to through traffic between Route 3 and Route 201 since March 2026 for construction.
