(TAPPAHANNOCK, Va.) – The MCV Foundation and VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital are pleased to announce updated eligibility for the Dr. Jeffery Haskins Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship fund was created by donations that Tappahannock Hospital team members, physicians and board members made in the memory of Dr. Jeffrey Haskins, a urologist with Riverside Medical Group serving the Tappahannock community for more than 25 years.

Together with community contributions, the fund is currently worth more than $12,000 and scholarships awarded will be worth $500 or $1,000.

When created, the fund was intended for VCU Health team members and volunteers seeking clinical education. But this year, the leadership team at VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital is expanding eligibility to include anyone pursuing a healthcare degree and committed to serving the Tappahannock community during or upon program completion.

Haskins not only served the community as a long time physician, but he was a mentor to many. He lived by example what it means to treat patients as family. That philosophy of care was not only reserved for his patients. He was a familiar and much-beloved member of the team at Tappahannock Hospital who was known for his sense of humor, warmth and compassion.
