A bill that says you cannot be charged with drunken driving if you are in a vehicle on your private property passed the state Senate on Thursday despite opposition from prosecutors and safe driving advocates.
The aim of Senate Bill 918, explained state Sen. Richard Stuart, R-King George, is to restore Virginia’s drunken driving law to where it was before a 2013 decision by the Court of Appeals, later confirmed by the Virginia Supreme Court.
