IRVINGTON, VA—October-November 2023 was the culmination of quilting, sewing, and giving activity for Sewlovelee customers, area quilters and sewists, and shop staff.

Sewlovelee’s Gratitude & Giving quilt drive collected 55 quilts. All were donated to The Haven in Warsaw.

The shop’s Gratitude & Giving placemat drive collected more than 80 items and all were donated to Bay Aging. Residents of Lancaster and Northumberland counties participating in their home delivered meals program will receive the handmade placemats.

Quilters and the community came together in October for the Community Customer Quilt Show in Sewlovelee’s Quilt Garden. The annual quilt show featured more than 40 quilts. Local quilter Helen Sutphen’s spectacular quilt was voted the favorite by quilt show attendees. Several Gratitude & Giving quilts were displayed in the show.

“Sewlovelee customers and quilters and sewists across the region are incredibly generous. They are committed to others in a way that continues to warm my heart,” commented Sewlovelee owner Lee Taylor.

Quilt lovers, too, abound, according to Taylor. “Attendance at the 2023 Community Customer Quilt Show demonstrates how much quilts and the art speak to people of all ages,” said Taylor. “I was thrilled to see elementary school-age kids enjoying the quilts as well,” Taylor added.
