Officials are investigating a bomb threat in Tappahannock. Shortly after 1 PM on Wednesday afternoon, officials say that St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock received a bomb threat by telephone. The Tappahannock Police Department, the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, and Virginia State Police responded.

According to Tappahannock Police Chief James Ashworth, the school was evacuated and Water Lane was closed. A bomb sniffing dog was brought in. Chief Ashworth reports that the incident remains under investigation at this time.
