On Feb. 4, Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced the end of Virginia’s collaboration with federal immigration enforcement. In doing so, she described the collaboration so far as having been “minimal,” but still concerning enough for the program to be canceled.
In response to clarifying questions about the definition of “minimal,” a spokesperson for the Virginia State Police said that 193 apprehensions were made — primarily by ICE — while state police troopers operated in an “assist role.”
