A decades-old Republican stronghold held by a GOP Congressman who far outperformed President Donald Trump in 2024 fell in Tuesday’s blue wave as Democrat Shannon Taylor defeated Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st.
Updated, but still unofficial, numbers from the state Department of Elections show Taylor’s margin of victory of more than 2 percentage points was well outside the 1-point gap that would allow Wittman to ask for a recount.
