Sabato’s Crystal Ball, a nationally watched political newsletter at the University of Virginia, shifted the outlook for three key Virginia congressional races toward Democrats on Tuesday, with less than five weeks before the midterm elections that will determine party control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The newsletter, named for UVa political guru Larry Sabato, shows Democratic challengers closing the gap in races against three increasingly vulnerable Republican incumbents. They include Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st, a 19-year House veteran whose re-election fight against Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor is now considered a “toss-up”.
