The Town of Warsaw recently held a ribbon cutting event to signify the completion of the Warsaw Housing Rehabilitation Project, a grant funded project by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The Town received a competitive grant of $632,534 to rehabilitate three homes and rebuild two homes across Town, improving the quality of life for several families. The Town also provided $30,000 in matching funds for sidewalk and driveway improvements and for temporary housing for affected families.
Town Manager Joseph Quesenberry stated that once the Town closed out the downtown revitalization project, “… we felt the need to address housing as our next large project. Uplifting the lives of our residents is of paramount importance to us, and this was another step in that direction,” he said.
Mayor Randall Phelps added that “This project is a great example of what can happen when state and local governments work together and put resources to work where they can make a real difference in people’s lives. We didn’t just repair houses or build new ones, we helped strengthen homes, families, and neighborhoods. Today, that investment has an address, it has a front door, and most importantly, it has a family that gets to call it home. I’m incredibly proud of what we have accomplished here in Warsaw.”
