VCU Health is bringing a new mobile digital PET/CT scanner to Virginia.
The new scanner will serve as a replacement unit for VCU Health hospitals in Tappahannock and South Hill. The UMI 550 offers exceptional image clarity. It also offers a large field of view, low dose and faster patient scanning – enabling a whole-body scan in four bed positions within eight minutes. That level of speed and accuracy can have benefits for patients and clinicians alike. The new unit is the first United Imaging all-digital mobile unit in Virginia and will help expand imaging capacity for both facilities within a couple of months. The unit will be split between the two hospitals, spending three days per week at VCU Tappahannock Hospital and two days per week at South Hill. VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new mobile unit this Wednesday, July 17, at 10:00 a.m.
