CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Virginia High School League announces its 2023 Class 2 all-state competition cheer team. Graham junior Ella Dales is the Class 2 Player of the Year, and Graham head coach Andrea Mitchem is the Class 2 Coach of the Year. Competition cheer Player of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected from the state championship team in each classification.
Mitchem and Dales led Graham to the school’s second competition cheer state championship. The G-Men won their first state title in 2016, along with a runner-up finish in 2017. At the Class 2 championships held November 4 at the VCU Siegel Center, Graham scored 267.5 points, followed by Glenvar (238, tie-breaker), King William (238), and Fort Defiance (237.5).
2023 Class 2 All-State Cheer Team
Twenty (20) individuals comprise the first-team and second-team all-state teams. Only the top ten individuals from the first-team all-region teams are eligible for selection to the All-State team. The top five are named to the first team, and individuals from 6-10 are on the second team. The highest-rated cheerleader from the state championship team is the POY, and the coach from the state title team is the COY.
