Virginia is asking U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to block a lower court order requiring the state to restore 1,600 people it removed from voter rolls under Gov. Glenn Youngkin‘s August executive order.
The filing argued that U.S. District Court Judge Patricia Giles‘ order on Friday depends on a provision of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 that does not apply to removing noncitizens from voter rolls.
