The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will get about $150 million through two federal climate pollution reduction grants to cut greenhouse gas emissions from coal mines and landfills and for carbon capture projects in wetlands and peat bogs, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced.
One grant, for just under $100 million, will tackle emissions of methane, a particularly potent greenhouse gas.
