Virginia’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign is back, urging Virginians to plan for a safe ride home after drinking. State leaders do not want to have a repeat of last year’s deadly holiday season. Between Thanksgiving 2022 and New Year’s Day 2023, 422 Virginians were injured and 23 died because of alcohol-related crashes.

Virginia law enforcement agencies are joining in the campaign with increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints. Virginia State Police will also participate in “Operation CARE – the Crash Awareness Reduction Effort,” a nationwide program that aims to reduce deaths and injuries from drunk driving accidents.
