A group of hemp companies is suing Gov. Abigail Spanberger in an effort to block a forthcoming law that threatens to wreak havoc on their businesses.
On Aug. 15, many hemp products will become illegal in Virginia, which the plaintiffs say will force those businesses to lay off employees or close.
On Monday, seven Virginia businesses filed for an injunction in federal court in Roanoke against the governor and numerous other officials to stop the new law from taking effect.
