The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources is raising hunting and fishing license fees effective October 1. The agency’s board voted 6-4 at a Thursday morning meeting to approve the measure.
Board members said they do not want to raise fees but effectively have no other choice in order to repay the $6.9 million loan the agency took out from the state earlier this year. The state required the agency to raise its fees in the terms of the loan.
