Virginia’s members of Congress are weighing in on the U.S.-Israeli strikes in Iran.
Democrats in the House of Representatives and Senate warn that the attacks could violate U.S. law and entangle American forces in a larger war.
Republicans argue the operation is necessary to dampen Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and thwart threats to American lives.
Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, D-Va., condemned American involvement in the attacks, questioning the legality of those strikes and worrying about being drawn into a larger conflict in the Middle East.
Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee, said he was grateful for the “brave” men and women who have put themselves in harm’s way “for the good of our nation and the world.”
