On the evening of October 31, 2023, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Virginia State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred on Route 602/Old Virginia Street, west of Walesa Point, in Mathews County.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Mr. Timothy Siecker ,was operating a 2011 Honda Moped, in which his wife, Lorraine Labounty-Siecker, was seated behind him as a passenger. Siecker was traveling westbound on Route 602, when the moped was struck by a deer, ejecting both Seicker and Labounty-Siecker(wife). Labounty-Siecker was ejected and thrown into the eastbound lanes of traffic. An unknown vehicle, traveling eastbound, struck Labounty-Siecker, and continued traveling eastbound on Route 602 in the direction/area of Burrells Marina Road. Lorraine Labounty-Siecker, 72 years of age of Crossville, Tennessee, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Timothy Siecker suffered serious injuries and was transported to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
State police are reaching out to members of the community, seeking assistance in possibly identifying or obtaining information on the identification of the unknown dark colored sedan who left the scene of the crash, or who may have witnessed the crash or driver leaving the scene. It is unknown at this time, if unknown driver is aware that he/she struck the victim in the roadway.
