Two Smyth County narcotics investigators helped with a drug investigation that led to the seizure of $1.9 million worth of methamphetamine and the arrests of two people.
Sheriff Chip Shuler said Thursday that the investigators, one of whom is assigned to a DEA Task Force and the other is assigned to a FBI Task Force, assisted with the investigation led by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and helped serve a search warrant.
One search warrant was served on Interstate 81 in Washington County, resulting in a traffic stop.
Approximately four pounds of methamphetamines with a street value exceeding $65,000 was located and seized from the vehicle. The search warrant also resulted in the location and seizure of approximately one ounce of fentanyl.
