MONTROSS, Va. – Westmoreland State Park’s Foundation Celebration recognizes America’s 250th anniversary and its own 90th year as a state park on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

This community celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., marking two historic milestones: America’s 250th anniversary and the 90th anniversary of the opening of Westmoreland State Park. Honoring 90 years of Westmoreland State Park — and the CCC legacy

As part of the 90th anniversary celebration, the park will recognize the essential role of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), whose work in the 1930s laid the foundation for Westmoreland State Park as we know it today. CCC crews built many of the park’s original structures, trails and recreational features, leaving a lasting legacy of craftsmanship, conservation and public service.

America’s 250th anniversary

As a signature VA250 and Northern Neck 250 event, the celebration connects local history to the national story. The Northern Neck, birthplace of George Washington, James Monroe and other founding figures play a central role in the nation’s 250-year legacy.
