HEATHSVILLE — The Northern Neck Wooden Boat School will hold a ribbon-cutting for its new building Monday, June 22. Volunteers pulled together with donations and physical labor to erect the building, called a bow shed.

The ribbon cutting will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, next to Northumberland Middle School, 175 Academic Lane, Heathsville.

Thirteen students, guided by volunteers with boat-building experience, constructed three wooden skiffs in the new building. They met Mondays and Wednesdays from May 18 to their last day, Wednesday, June 24.

The skiffs will be launched at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 25, from the pier at Horn Harbor Restaurant, 836 Horn Harbor Road, Burgess.

The public is invited to both events.
