Officials say that a King George county man was fatally shot over the weekend.
“On Sunday, October 22, 2023 at approximately 8AM, Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 400 block of Longfield Road in response to a report of an unresponsive male with a possible gunshot wound. Upon arrival, the male later identified as Anthony E. Clarke, 42 of King George was found to be deceased having sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper side/chest region. A Braztech .357 Magnum Revolver and holster was recovered at the scene.
Daniel R. Sherwood, 65, Colonial Beach, was arrested at the scene on one count of Second Degree Murder, one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Violent Felon. Mr. Sherwood received no bond and his first court appearance has been scheduled.
The Virginia State Police to include their K-9 Explosive Unit assisted with the investigation. Investigation continues and additional charges are pending.”
