Mathews, Virginia – The 10th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser to benefit Hands Across Mathews will be held in person at the Bay School on Sunday, December 10, from 11:00am – 1:30pm. Beautiful hand-made bowls from the Clay by the Bay Ceramics Guild will be displayed and sold in the Art Speaks Gallery. Soup, bread, cookies, and water will be served in the pottery studio. Guests may choose to dine communally in the gallery and classroom or take their meals to go. This event is a poignant reminder that there are those around us that, without the aid of Hands Across Mathews, will surely have empty bowls in their future.

Tickets will not be sold in advance for the event. The bowls and soups will be set out in two sets, at 11:00 and 12:00, so everyone will have a good selection to choose from. Please enter through the gallery entrance on Main Street, where you will be welcomed by a beautiful selection of bowls. Hands Across Mathews volunteers and Bay School staff will be handling sales at the gallery checkout counter. Each bowl and serving of soup costs $15. Cash, check, and charge will be accepted. Please make checks to Hands Across Mathews, and bring exact change if paying cash, or donate the extra $5 if you pay with a $20 bill. Additional donations to Hands Across Mathews may be made at any time on the Bay School website; cash, check, or charge in person at the Bay School; or check mailed directly to Hands Across Mathews, P.O. Box 1303, Mathews, VA 23109.

Artwork will be raffled the day of the event. Check the Bay School website for details and to make donations, at https://www.bayschool-arts.com/pages/emptybowls .
