In response to pandemic-related learning loss, Gov. Glenn Youngkin last month announced an ambitious plan that includes an intensive statewide tutoring initiative. He challenged school divisions to implement the tutoring programs by Oct. 16.

Just 28 of Virginia’s 131 school divisions submitted their spending plans to the state by the Monday target launch date. Youngkin’s timeline provided about six weeks for school divisions to get the high-dosage tutoring programs up and running.
