John Latell and Karen Doyle will have a two-person show at Tappahannock Artists’ Guild (TAG) October 30 through November 21, 2026.   TAG is located at 200 Prince Street, Tappahannock, VA 22560.  An opening reception will be held on October 30, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

John will be showing contemporary sculptures in wood, metal, and paint using various processes including casting, forging, dyeing, carving, and enameling. These are deliberate forms borne from experiences in solitude and with loved ones. John says, “The work is about the arising of form and the reconciliation of conditions.”

Karen Doyle is a multimedia artist and will be showing fiber art using many types of wool from local flocks of sheep. This body of work explores the ancient art and craft of wet felting wool into fabric. Her love of botany has led her to dye with plants she has foraged locally and from her treks to the Northwest territory. This exhibition of fiber art uses form to study structure, shape, and texture of many different types of wool.

John studied sculpture at VCU in Richmond, VA before going to Pittsburgh in the mid 90’s for creative work in local industrial sites.  He returned to Virginia more than twenty years ago and established Wicomico Forge Gardenworks and Northern Neck Railings and Gates as businesses that support his fine art work. Located in Weems Virginia, John can be reached by email:  wicomicoforgejohnl@gmail.com

Karen Doyle received her BFA from the Corcoran school of art in Washington D.C. She worked as a photographer for several years until she moved to the Northern Neck with her young family in 1992. After 30 years of creative entrepreneurship she returned to her first love of creating art. She has worked in multiple disciplines and is currently working in fiber arts. Combining her love of botany with the ancient art of creating fabric with wool she uses plant dyes to dye much of her wool.
